We started A La Cart Projects as a place to share tutorials, but over time people kept asking for two things: supplies bundled exactly as described in the guides, and help making things they did not have time to learn. That's what these services are built around.
You can buy a kit, commission a finished piece, or join a workshop and make it yourself. All three options are covered below.
Every tutorial on this site includes a materials list. But sourcing those materials yourself takes time -- comparing options, ordering from three different places, guessing at quantities. The kits remove that friction.
Each kit contains exactly what you need for one specific project: pre-cut or pre-measured materials, any specialty hardware, and a printed version of the full tutorial with extra notes that don't make it into the online version. You open the box and start.
Current kit lineup includes:
New kits are added when a tutorial gets enough requests. If there's a project from our projects page you'd like to see as a kit, email and we'll log the interest.
Not everyone has the time or inclination to make something themselves, but they want something handmade. That's what commissions are for.
We take a small number of custom orders each month for pieces made to your specifications. These are not production items -- each one is made fresh for the person who ordered it.
What we make on commission:
Turnaround is two to three weeks from order confirmation. Rush orders (one week) are sometimes possible with a 25% surcharge -- ask and we'll let you know if the timing works. Shipping within the US is included in the price; international shipping is charged at cost.
To commission something, email [email protected] with what you have in mind. A photo reference or a few words of description is enough to start the conversation.
Workshops are small, in-person sessions where you make something from start to finish in one sitting. All materials are included. You leave with a finished piece.
We keep groups to eight people maximum. The format is relaxed -- there's music, and you're welcome to bring something to drink. The aim is a useful skill and a finished object, not a stressful performance.
Current workshop schedule:
Private workshops are available for groups of 6 or more. Good for hen parties, birthday gatherings, corporate team events, or any group that wants a creative afternoon with something to take home. Minimum 6 people, priced by group size and duration. Email to discuss.
Dates for upcoming sessions are announced by email a few weeks in advance. If you would like to be added to the notification list, send a quick note to [email protected].
If you are new to crafting, the getting started guide is the right first stop. For project inspiration before ordering a kit, browse the full projects page. And if you want to know more about us before buying anything, the about page covers that.
