Art Project Kits

Everything you need for one project, pre-measured and ready to go

Organized art project kit with scissors, thread spools, and colorful craft materials laid out neatly

Why We Make Kits

Every tutorial on this site includes a materials list. But sourcing those materials is time-consuming: comparing options across three suppliers, figuring out the right quantities, deciding between the $4 skein and the $12 skein when you do not yet know what difference it makes. New crafters especially find this step discouraging enough that they never start the project at all.

The kits solve that. Each one contains exactly the materials described in a specific tutorial, measured and cut where applicable, with any specialty hardware included and a printed version of the tutorial with extended notes that do not make it into the online version. You open the box and start making.

We do not offer kits for every project on the site — only for the tutorials that work well as a single purchase and that have stable enough supply chains to restock reliably. Below is the current lineup with details on what each contains and who it suits.

Macrame Plant Hanger Kit

For the beginner macrame tutorial. Contains 15 metres of 5mm natural single-strand cotton rope, one 25mm wooden ring, a wood dowel for hanging the work while you knot, and a printed guide covering the four knots used in the project (square knot, half-hitch, gathering knot, and overhand knot).

Makes one plant hanger sized for a 10 to 15cm pot. Time: 60 to 90 minutes. The cotton rope included is soft and forgiving — easier on your hands than jute and much easier to undo if you make a mistake. Price: $28.

Good for: first-time macrame, gifts for plant lovers, teenagers learning fiber arts, and anyone who wants a finished project by the end of a Sunday afternoon. Not for people who already own rope and want to follow the tutorial independently.

Linen Napkin Stamping Kit

Four blank linen napkins (45x45cm, medium-weight linen with a hemmed edge), two 30ml bottles of fabric paint in complementary colours of your choice (specify at checkout from our current palette), one carved wooden stamp in a botanical motif, and heat-setting instructions. Everything that touches the fabric has been tested together to confirm the print sets cleanly without bleeding.

Makes four finished napkins. Time: 30 minutes active plus 24 hours drying before heat-setting. Price: $34.

These work as a standalone gift or as the starting point for a larger stamped linen project (table runners, tea towels, tote bags all work with the same technique and stamp). If you want to expand beyond the kit, the stamp is designed to tile cleanly in a repeating pattern.

Hand-Bound Notebook Kit

Bookbinding is one of those crafts that sounds complicated until you do it once, and then you wonder what you were worried about. This kit is designed for someone with no bookbinding experience doing their first pamphlet-stitch or single-signature binding.

Contains: heavyweight cardstock for two covers (you choose colour at checkout from eight options), 40 sheets of 90gsm cream writing paper pre-folded into a single signature, waxed bookbinding thread in off-white, a blunt bookbinding needle, and a bone folder for crisp folds. Makes two small notebooks (A6 size, approximately 10.5x15cm finished).

Time: 45 minutes per notebook once you have read through the instructions. The waxed thread is important — it goes through the paper much more smoothly than regular thread and the wax helps the stitches sit flat. Price: $22.

Good for: journals, sketchbooks, or just learning the technique before moving on to more complex bindings. The bone folder and needle can be reused for future projects.

Air-Dry Clay Dish Set Kit

Three small dishes from one kit session. Contains: two 200g portions of air-dry clay, a smooth acrylic roller, three dish molds in different shapes (round, oval, leaf), 120-grit and 220-grit sandpaper sheets for smoothing before and after drying, and a bottle of chalk paint in terracotta (enough for two coats on all three dishes). Add your own mod podge or sealant to finish.

Makes three small dishes (8 to 12cm across depending on mold). Time: 30 minutes shaping, 48 hours drying, 30 minutes painting, 24 hours curing. Price: $26.

The dishes are practical objects — ring dishes, key catchers, small plant saucers, condiment holders. They scale well for small-batch production if you want to make a set of six or eight as a gift or for selling. Each additional kit makes three more; the molds are reusable indefinitely.

Soy Candle-Making Kit

Our most requested kit addition for the past year. Contains: 400g of natural soy wax flakes, two pre-tabbed cotton wicks with adhesive bases, two glass jars (240ml, straight-sided, suitable for pouring and burning), a 15ml bottle of fragrance oil (your choice of scent at checkout from eight options), and a printed pour guide with temperature notes.

Makes two candles. First pour, including measuring and melting: about an hour. The wax needs 24 to 48 hours to cure before burning for best scent throw. Price: $32.

Candle-making is one of the best crafts for moving from personal use to Etsy selling. The per-unit material cost is low, the finished product looks professional with minimal effort, and there is consistent demand. This kit gives you the foundation; once you have made the two candles, you will know the process well enough to source your own materials in bulk.

What Is Not In a Kit (and Why)

We do not include: basic tools you almost certainly already have (scissors, a ruler, a pencil), items that vary too much by personal preference to pre-select (adhesives where brand matters, brushes where size preference varies), and anything with a short shelf life that we cannot guarantee will arrive fresh.

The printed tutorial in each kit has a complete materials list including these additional items you will need. We try to keep the list short and the items specific — not "a brush" but "a 1-inch flat brush, any brand" — so you are not guessing.

How to Order

Kits are available through the services page. Email [email protected] to place an order or ask about availability. We ship within the US and internationally; domestic orders arrive within 5 to 7 business days.

If there is a tutorial on the site you want a kit for and it is not listed here, email and let us know. New kits are built when enough people ask for them.
